The Boys from Biloxi, John Grisham

I have been told to stick it out, push forward, the first half isn't near as good as the last half. Ugh - that's a difficult ask when there are four million other books published a year (I looked it up, 500K-1M traditionally, the rest are hybrid and self-published).

The Boys from Biloxi, from the ten chapters I did get through was a narrative of a neighborhood, who the players were, what their fathers did, what they do now, and how they came to be there - all from back in the day. It was a gangster-ish, immigrant strong novel that from the chapters I read, were going nowhere too slowly for me to keep focused. I tried twice and finally threw in the towel.

The negative aside, John Grisham is a masterful writer and I am certain that if I were in a different headspace, or perhaps actually reading (sometimes the audio can throw me off), I may have enjoyed it much more. But for now, this one is going onto my shelf as Did Not Finish.
