YOU MAY NOT KNOW THE RAMIFICATIONS OR STATISTICS OF VICTIMIZATION TO MEMBERS OF THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY. Help protect these marginalized people - learn more from Voices of LGBTQ+, A conversation starter for understanding, supporting and protecting gay, bi, trans, and queer people. Available June 2020.

Excerpt from VOICES OF LGBTQ+:

"[E]ach episode of victimization of someone who is LGBTQ, such as physical or verbal harassment or abuse, increases the likelihood of self-harming behavior by 2.5 times, on average. That was EACH EPISODE, meaning even an offhand gay slur. Every discriminatory comment on television directed to the transgender community, every religious leader heard saying those in the LGBTQ community are going to hell, every incident, no matter how big or small, increases their likelihood of self-harm behavior by 2.5 times."
