Lily and the Octopus, Steven Rowley

This is a good book. Any book about a dog is, at least, good. I appreciate Steven Rowley's unique take on writing and how he gives his character wings to fly, but when the figurative octopus in the story became twenty or more pages of off-the-wall Ishmael/Ahab stuff, I started just turning pages. Just too much for me.

That being said, Lily and the Octopus is quite enjoyable, and anyone who has ever had the love of a pet will understand the depth of the book (and probably why the author went off the deep in, in my opinion). I am a Steven Rowley fan, perhaps just not so much this book. But that does not mean that it isn't a good read.

(Is it me, or am I talking in circles here?! Maybe the octopus got in my head...)
